Named for a legendary stretch of our favorite river, the Telluride Angler "Three Riffles" 843-4 is based on the classic Scott G and G2 tapers.  This medium action 3-weight is the ultimate dry fly rod, long enough to turn over 16' leaders with the feathery swing of a classic creek rod.  "Three Riffles" is delicate, accurate and unsurpassed in precision.  Scott rod designer Jim Bartschi crafted a custom small Wells grip that makes the rod even more responsive to subtle input from the angler.  A compact, effortless casting stroke creates surprising line speed and gorgeous loops from 15'-70', offering range for a wide variety of creeks, rivers and lakes.  "Three Riffles" was inspired by the angling traditions of Southwest Colorado and all waters where anglers choose the dry fly.

  1. Incredible

Posted by Scott Boatright on 6th Mar 2016

I really am not sure how to describe the "Three Riffles"...I've fished everywhere around Telluride and southwestern Colorado/northwestern and central New Mexico as well as warm water east coast creeks and rivers and I have been so impressed with the diverse capability, and I guess "authority", with which this rod deals with whatever I ask it to do and with whatever ends up on the other end of my line. This rod makes my time on the water satisfying and wholly enjoyable, and only gets put away when the wind suggests I begin to throw something much heavier...surprisingly that has come in the 5 to 6 weight range. I am no technical expert, but this rod has renewed my enthusiasm in a way I have not felt in years. Before finalizing your purchase of a 3 or 4 weight, you owe it to yourself to cast a Three Riffles Scott fly rod...at a minimum it will make you think about your choice.
