Sage Xi3 Series Fly Rods

Sage Xi3 saltwater fly rods combine new design with Generation V Technology to produce the most stable, powerful Sage saltwater fly rods. Sage's Modulus Positioning System (MPS) is the term for proprietary design techniques that maximize the use of graphite materials in the scrim layer of the blank. The "G5" layup utilizes only graphite in the lower three sections of the rod and minimal fiberglass in the tip. Reducing fiberglass scrim reduces overall rod weight. Fiberglass in the tip is precisely placed to deliver suppleness and durability without unnecessary weight.

In the Xi3 Series, these variables are combined in what Sage terms "Salt H2O Technology," which gives the rods greater torsional stability and more lifting power than other saltwater fly rods. The angler has greater ability to pick up 50-60 feet of line and change directions in a single casting stroke, presenting the fly to a different fish. In deep water, anglers will notice a "solid" feel in the butt section of the Xi3 that offers greater confidence in controlling and landing deep running fish.
