S4 9'0" 5-weight 4-piece fly rod
This thing is a rocket disguised as a feather! The S4 905-4 will be the most popular rod in the series, destined to become one of the most popular Scott fly rods of all time.

Scott S4 905/4: In my mind any 5-weight rod should be two things: fast and light. This rod fulfills both standards. What really impresses me about the entire S4 Series is their powerful fast action that is so easy to cast. This particular rod is definitely designed to be fished hard, but is performs well at both short and long distances. As a Western Coloradan I fish a lot of droppers behind large terrestrial dry flies and the 905/4 handles the “hopper-dropper” rig perfectly. It’s also my favorite new rod for small poppers on bass ponds and crawfish for carp. It’s a great nymphing 5-wt. but can get overworked with deep and heavy rigs necessary on rivers like the Gunnison. I like it most while fishing from the bow of a drift boat on rivers like the Roaring Fork in Colorado or the Green River in Utah with dry dropper rigs and streamers. If you’re looking for one fly rod to do it all this is a step in the right direction.
Fly line recommendation: Rio Grand WF5F (if you’re an experienced and powerful fly caster the Rio Grand may overload the S4 in which case the Rio Gold WF5F is better)
