6'6" 3-wt 3-piece 1.7 oz rod
It's hard to pick a favorite in the F2 Series, but having cast every model, there was complete consensus that the F2 653/3 was the front runner in the series. It's just magnificent.

I have been fishing the f2 653 since ice off and it has been amazing.22 dries to a size 8 bead head stone fly nymphs.Roll and bow and arrow casts are great.I like the way it loads deep with power, and for a short rod it mends well. This is one rod i will never sell...

The F2 653/3 is a fantastic rod for small streams, it casts beautifully up close. Bow and arrow casts are no problem (some rods just don't handle that type of cast well). Very light and smooth as silk.
Some rods just "feel right", this is one of them.
Scott hit a home run with this rod....

F2 653-3: My favorite rod in the series. Like the F2 602-3, the F2 653-3 is short without feeling stubby. I love fiberglass rods for my small stream fishing and own four of Scott Fibertouches from previous generations of the series. In this rod, I clearly felt the advantage of the new material and Bartschi’s new designs. For years, I have fished the old F 703-3. Shorter rods usually give the sense of “flipping” the fly out, rather than “casting” the line. Somehow, in spite of its reduced length, the new F2 653-3 feels smoother and more connected to the line. I was very surprised by this outcome and immediately fell in love with the rod.
Fly line recommendation: Rio Trout LT WF3F, SA XPS WF3F, or the DT in either line
