Sage has built many fine saltwater fly rods over the years. The Xi2 Series is simply the best group of saltwater fly rods ever designed by this manufacturer (or possibly by any manufacturer). These are faster action rods than their predecesors, the RPLXi Series. If you test cast one, it will feel light and extremely powerful, as you would expect from a Sage. On the water, they're even better. These are amazingly stable rods; they track beautifully in the wind and have terrific lifting power for pulling on deep-running fish. The true casting action really only comes out on the water, which loads these rods deeper than they'll flex in the parking lot, unlocking spectacular casting power in their mid and butt sections. If you think these rods feel good in the flyshop, you won't believe how well they fish!
Effective August 13, 2009, Sage has announced the discontinuation of the Xi2 saltwater series. Xi2 rods are on sale at substantial discounts while supplies last. | The Launch Series is packed with great, affordable fly rods. For these prices, you can't afford not to fish a Sage! We're extremely impressed with the actions of these easy-casting fly rods. They also look really clean, come with a nice case, and are backed by Sage's Unconditional Lifetime Warranty. Discontinued late summer 2009, Sage Launch fly rods are on sale until out of stock. |
