The highly anticipated Sage ONE Rod redefines casting control with Konnetic Technology construction and a blank that weighs an amazing 25% less than Z-Axis.  (The whole rod, in fact, weighs 25% less than the comparable Z-Axis model.  We actually weighed the rods on our mail scale to prove the point). Konnetic Technology is a summation of exacting techniques that represent the next significant innovation from Sage, the world's leading fly rod designer.  Konnetic Technology utilizes Sage's Advanced Modulus Positioning System, by which Sage precisely aligns carbon fibers to exacting tolerances for optimal performance in the blank.  The layup process combines Sage's High Compression Molding Process, wherein carbon fibers are compressed for optimal density in a narrow diameter blank, with a 100% graphite inner core that is 50% lighter than the core layer used in rods from the past.

Further contributing to ONE Rod's lightness is Sage's new Low-Profile Ferrule system.  The strength of Konnetic Technology allows Sage to reduce the material used in ferruling, which in turn reduces the hinging and dampening effects at the ferrule joints.  Less is more.

What does all this mean to the angler?  The ONE Rod is designed for all water purposes.  It casts with power that is fundamentally easy to access and a lovely "sweet zone" at practical casting distances.  Casters with a wide range of stroke style and ability will feel the ONE Rod come alive in the hand.  You've probably never cast a lighter rod, a rod that extracts so little of your energy when fished from dawn to dusk.  Advanced casters will enjoy an uncanny ability to throw controlled loops at almost any casting distance.  We have tested several models with various lines and found that the ONE Rod is almost incapable of throwing poor loops.  These are remarkable casting fly rods.

There is also a good chance that you've never cast a prettier rod.  The ONE rod blank is "Ice Black," trimmed with bronze thread and reel seat highlights.  Fresh water models have classy walnut wood inserts, while saltwater models come with bronze-colored anodized aluminum reel seats, full Wells handles and fighting butts. 

Sage could not have done a better job of choosing grips and hardware.  Snub-nosed half-Wells grips are used on all freshwater models, a most comfortable, classy and practical choice.  This, in our opinion, is a meaningful upgrade from run-of-the-mill half-Wells trout grips. The snub-nosed half-Wells is specifically sized for ONE Rod and fits the caster's hand with superior contour and feel.  Saltwater models feature a finely tuned full-Wells grip.  We also commend Sage's use of the Round Tip Eye.  This tip top shoots line better than any other.

The case for ONE Rod is a high-quality black powder coated aluminum tube with the stately Sage medalion.  A partitioned cloth liner is also provided with each rod.
