The much anticipated Ross F1 Series fly reel was introduced at the International Fly Tackle Dealer Show in September, 2010. The significance of the F1 is the introduction of a revolutionary drag system modeled after the multi caliper brake used on Formula 1 race cars. Eight independent contact points work on two square inches of carbon fiber disc surface, ensuring constant contact for resistance-free start up. The drag mechanisms are constructed entirely from carbon fiber and stainless steel for maximum heat dispersion. The system is sealed by ten separate o-rings for complete protection and the spool fits on a carbon fiber stabilizer with two fully sealed stainless steel ball bearings for a solid fit and glas-smooth performance. The drag adjustment knob has the widest range (by far) of any reel we've ever tested and maintains an even rotating action throughout the tension cycle. Carbon fiber is incorporated in the bearing house, drag disc, spool release and reel handle for maximum lightness. The F1 presents flawless machining and Ross's first "true large arbor" spool design. These gorgeous reels are offered in three classy finish choices. Even the proverbial skeptics at Telluride Angler agree: this is the Ross Reel we've been waiting for. All sizes in stock!
